Phil Ivey is the best all around poker player alive today and you can even argue that he can already be considered the best player of all time.  Phil has over $12,000,000 in career live tournament winnings including 7 WSOP bracelets.  The remarkable thing about this is that Phil isn’t even a tournament specialist.  Phil is also one of the biggest winners in the world at cash games of all varieties.  Even online Phil crushes the competition.  He won $1.99M online in ’07, $7.32M in ’08 and $1.69M so far this year.  Phil is an all around poker competitor and if you happen to sit down with him at a table you will likely go broke.

Phil started playing poker at the age of 18 when his friend, named Jerome Graham, hooked him up with an ID.  Phil would play at the local casino so much that he earned the nickname “No Home Jerome”.  When Phil turned 21 he went right back to the casino, showed the floor men his real ID and went right on winning money.

Phil Ivey won his first WSOP gold bracelet in 2000, which was his first year playing in the World Series.  He took down $195K and the bracelet in a Pot Limit Omaha event.  In 2002, Ivey won three more bracelets, which tied the record for most bracelets won in a single World Series.  Ivey won another two bracelets this year and still has a shot at the main event title because he was able to make the final table in an event that boasted a field of 6494 players.  Ivey will go for his 8th bracelet and his first main event win on November 9th.

Ivey has had a ton of tournament success, but is also considered one of, if not the best, cash game player in the world.  Ivey constantly beats the big game at the Bellagio and it’s even said that he beat billionaire Andy Beal out of $16M over three days to win a ton of money for “The Corporation”.  Ivey loves the big money action and you can find him betting enormous sums of money at some of the biggest cash games in the world both live and online.  You can also find him playing golf for huge amounts with some of his buddies like Erick Lindgren, Daniel Negreanu and Doyle Brunson.
