Mike Matusow is a full member of Team Full Tilt and a very recognizable personality in the poker world.  Mike is well known for his needling, whining and meltdowns at the poker table and these antics have earned him the nickname Mike “The Mouth” Matusow.  Even with his signature meltdowns, where he self destructs and busts out of a tournament with a few very bad decisions after playing a solid tournament thus far, Mike has a very solid tournament record.  Mike has three WSOP gold bracelets to his name and almost $5 Million in career tournament winnings.

Mike’s life away from the poker felt has not been easy and this may have contributed to his personality at the felt.  As a youngster Mike was bullied by other kids and as a teenager Mike became addicted to video poker.  He played so much video poker that he suffered shoulder and arm injuries and he event went as far as stealing money from his moms purse to fund his habit.  As an adult Mike has also had some rough times dealing with drug addiction.  Mike even wound up in prison for 9 months on cocaine traffic charges.

Mike’s biggest wins both came in 2005 and these wins really brought Mike the poker fame and fortune that he has today.  First of all Mike finished 9th in the ’05 WSOP main event and took home $1,000,000.  Then he followed this up with another $1M win when he took down the World Series of Poker tournament of champions.  These two scores made Mike the first person to ever win two $1,000,000 prizes in the same year.
