John Juanda is one of the most successful members of Team Full Tilt and is likely the most consistent player over the past decade. Juanda has a total of 4 World Series of Poker bracelets, has cashed in 49 World Series events and has won over $9,000,000 in his poker tournament playing career.
Juanda moved to the States from Indonesia to attend Oklahoma State University in 1990. Juanda was quite the athlete when he was growing up, starring in many track events in Indonesia.
Juanda started playing professional poker about 8 years after he moved to the States and he had some quick success with a $31.8K win in one of his first tournaments, the ’98 Los Angeles Poker Classic limit hold’em tourney. In 2001 and 2002 Juanda continued his success winning Card Player Magazine’s player of the year award in back to back years. In ’02 Juanda also won his first WSOP bracelet in the $1,500 triple draw lowball event.
Juanda’s biggest win in his poker playing career came in 2008 when he won the WSOP Europe main event. This win pocketed Juanda approximately $1,700,000 and also his most recent World Series of Poker gold bracelet.
Even though Juanda didn’t win a fifth bracelet at the 2009 WSOP he still proved he has what it takes to increase his total. Juanda made four final tables in ’09, but could not convert any of them into a 5th bracelet.
John Juanda is a full member of Team Full Tilt and you can often find him playing in some of the bigger tournaments Full Tilt has to offer such as the FTOPS events and the big money Sunday tournaments. Juanda is known for his calm demeanour at the poker felt and this table persona has worked very well for him because he has been able to keep himself level and consistent on his way to poker success.
