Howard Lederer is the CEO, co-owner and co-founder of Full Tilt Poker, so it should come as no surprise that he is a full member of Team Full Tilt. Of course before creating a successful online poker room, Howard was making a very good living playing poker. Over his career, Lederer has won over $5,000,000 in tournament prize money. He also has two WSOP bracelets, two WPT titles and has cashed in 41 World Series of Poker events.
Howard was a professional chess player before he started playing poker. It was at his underground chess club that Howard first learned about poker. He immediately took a liking to the game and before long he was playing poker in the back room many hours a day. Lederer was not a very good player at first, so bad in fact that he would have to run errands for the other players during the day just to earn enough money for his buy-in that night. Howard eventually cut back on his playing time and found his results improve with the extra sleep.
Howard moved to Vegas in 1993 to become a professional poker player. He became one of the best cash game players in the city and earned the respect of top poker player Doyle Brunson. Brunson eventually invited him to be a part of “The Corporation” and take on billionaire Andy Beal. Howard did so and proceeded to win a good chunk of change from the billionaire during his time with “The Corporation”.
Howard doesn’t play as much poker these days, because he has given up on his dream to be the best poker player in the world. He hasn’t however given up on being the best poker teacher. Howard has helped some of the top poker professionals in the world such as Annie Duke and Jennifer Harman improve their games and his teaching prowess has earned him the nickname “The Professor”. You can now find Howard online at Full Tilt Poker playing in some of the biggest tournaments online and teaching his competitors while he’s at it.
