Erik Seidel has won 8 WSOP bracelets and has cashed in 57 WSOP events.  He has over $9,000,000 in career tournament winnings and is considered one of the best tournament players of all time.

Like many successful poker players, Seidel started his gambling career playing backgammon.  Seidel learned to play backgammon at College and shortly after he started playing the game Seidel had dropped out of college to play backgammon professionally.  After a few years of playing professionally at the Mayfair Club in New York City, Seidel decided to take a stock broker job in order to have the security of a steady pay check.  Seidel continued to play casually at the Mayfair Club and this allowed him to be on the ground floor when no limit hold’em was introduced.  Erik immediately became passionate about the game and this would prove to be his new profession.

Erick Seidel first ventured to the World Series of Poker in 1988 after asking some of his friends to purchase shares of him.  Seidel had collected enough money to play in ten events at the World Series.  The first nine events did not go well for Seidel and his investors were no doubt starting to worry.  It all came down the main event.  Lucky for everyone who purchased a share in Seidel he ran deep and finished second to Johnny Chan.

Seidel’s most recent WSOP bracelet win came in ’07 when he won $539K for taking down the $50,000 no limit 2 – 7 lowball tourney.  Seidel had another big score in ’08 when he finished second in the Aussie Millions main event.

Erik Seidel can often be found online at Full Tilt Poker playing various limits.  He is a full member of Team Full Tilt and does his best to represent the online poker room around the world.
