FTOPS X Wraps Up with US Player the Big Winner
November 17, 2008
Another year, another Full Tilt Online Poker Series. The 10th installment of this annually awaited tournament series started on the 5th of this month and wrapped itself up last night with American Julian Verse besting 5,224 other contenders for the $450,708.50 main event grand prize.
The main event was hosted by Scott Montgomery who came in 5th place in this year's World Series of Poker main event.
The most popular of the series' 25 events (at least in terms of the size of the player pool) was surprisingly not this $2.5 million guaranteed main event but the $120 + $9 No Limit Hold’em Knockout tournament, which saw 7,000 players vying for their share of the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool (pushed to $700,000 by all the buy-ins).
One player "yuvee04", however, might be considered the real big winner of the FTOPS X, while winning considerably less than Verse's $400k+ still claims bragging rights by winning two consecutive tournaments:
- Event 14 - $500 + $35 H.O.R.S.E.
- Event 15 - No Limit Holdem Turbo
Overall, Full Tilt Poker awarded more than $15 million in cash prizes to the best (and luckiest) of the contenders.
